Meet Kamau: Leatherworker
"The thing I love most about being a Leatherworker is that I know each piece I make will be around for a long time. Even a piece as small as a bookmark or key chain, if someone gets that as a gift, they are going to have it for years and it will carry special meaning for all that time."
Simon Kamau Muga has been working with leather for nearly 27 years. His interest was sparked by his older brother who trained him and helped Kamau develop his passion. Working from his home in Nairobi, Kamau makes a range of items, supplying independent shops or fulfilling individual orders for clients. The majority of his business, however, comes from corporate clients who bulk order items as gifts for employees and customers.
With nearly three decades of experience Kamau has made almost anything you can imagine, however, his most popular items are bookmarks, key chains, and high quality binders/folders for conferences.
The next time you need something made or repaired with leather, or if you're looking for a nice gift for an upcoming event or party, Kamau will be happy to meet your needs.
